The reputable history of Elliott & Montgomery
Jim Elliott founded the Elliott Law Offices in 1984, in the firm’s current location in Olde Town Arvada. After almost twenty years as an insurance defense attorney, Jim switched sides to represent injured individuals, which he said helped him sleep better at night. Elliott Law Offices grew from one of the first workers’ compensation firms in Colorado into a family firm recognized across the state.
Mark Elliott joined his father at Elliott Law Offices in 1991, following several years sharpening his research and analytical skills at a major Denver big-law firm. Mark took over the practice following Jim’s retirement. He continued to expand the firm’s statewide practice and hone in its workers’ compensation expertise. Mark developed a reputation as an appellate law expert, successfully arguing for correct interpretations of the law and injured workers’ benefits before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court.
Erin Montgomery began practicing workers’ compensation in 2009 in Grand Junction. When she relocated from the West Slope and became active in the Denver claimants’ bar, Mark was serving as President of the Workers’ Compensation Education Association and began to serve as a mentor for Erin. They both shared a zeal for appellate work and complex legal issues. They began a collaborative approach to helping injured workers across separate firms. They worked together on multiple complex legal briefs. These resulted in significant wins for injured workers severally harmed by the insurance carriers, and creation of positive precedent in the law.
In 2025, the Elliott Law Offices became Elliott & Montgomery. Today, Mark and Erin help workers from all over the state, from all industries, with all types of injuries including complex head and spine, CRPS, and fatalities. Combining their history and individualized talents, Elliott & Montgomery has gained repute for: pursuing penalties when the insurance carrier breaks the law; advancing a case through the appellate process when a judge misapplies the law; and obtaining maximum settlement results within a confined and often unfair system. Their intentionally small firm focuses on personal service and accessibility to clients, while pursuing every avenue of available benefits.
